About 35 percent of retailers selling cosmetics online in Russia in 2021 were broad profile stores. Approximately one third of the retailers were specialized in self-care cosmetics, while perfumeries made up 13 percent of online cosmetic shops on the market.

The study included 48 online stores of beauty category (specializing in retail of decorative and self-care cosmetics, perfumes, products for manicure and pedicure masters, and make-up artists) listed in the 1,000 largest Russian online stores by orders volume, four online stores of network marketing companies, and two largest universal marketplaces - Wildberries and Ozon. Only online sales of cosmetics in the Russian territory were taken into consideration (excluding export sales).
