Return on equity (ROE) of main pan-African banks 2019
In 2019, the return on equity (ROE) of Zenith Bank, the pan-African banking institution based in Nigeria, stood at 23.8 percent. This was the highest ROE registered among the main banks in Africa. In the same year, the South African FirstRand Bank had a ROE of 21.7 percent. It was followed by Access Bank, whose proportion between net income and the average shareholders' equity corresponded to 17.7 percent.
