China was the major funding source of the Philippine government's flagship infrastructure projects from 2017 to 2021. Projects funded by loans from the Chinese government amounted to 708 billion Philippine pesos. On the other hand, the Japanese government funded a total of 472 billion Philippine pesos worth of infrastructure projects.
