In 2020, the majority of all women-owned venture capital (VC) firms in the United States were led by white women. Firms led by white women accounted for 66 percent of all VC firms owned by women, and 3.7 percent of all venture funds in the U.S. This was followed by East Asian and Black owned VC firms, which accounted for 15 percent and 8.7 percent of all venture firms led by women, respectively. Overall, only 5.6 percent of venture capital firms in the U.S. were led by women, and less than a quarter of VC firms owned by women were owned by women of color.
