Total prison capacity in Morocco 2010-2017
The total capacity of prisons in Morocco reached 51,776 in 2017, up from nearly 49 thousand in the previous year. The prison capacity has followed an upward trend since 2010. However, over 83.7 thousand prisoners were counted in the country in 2018, which represented an overcrowding situation within the Moroccan prison system.
