According to a survey on high-net-worth Chinese in May 2021, purchasing new furniture and household appliances was the first choice of the interviewed wealthy group when they opted to upgrade their living environment in the coming year. 60 percent of respondents would move to a new house to increase the living condition, of which 38 percent preferred villas and 23 percent biased high-rise apartments.

Among the interviewed HNWIs, females accounted for 59 percent and males 41 percent; 35 percent lived with their children/parents in two generations, 31 percent lived with partners, 24 percent live alone and nine percent live with three generations; the average indoor area of the residence was 170 square meters, and the average price was 70,000 yuan per square meter.
The industries to which the respondents belonged mainly covered technology/media/communications (35%), finance/investment (14%), social services (9%), entertainment/culture (8%), real estate (7%), etc.
