In the period covered by the graph, an upward trend can be observed in the volume of retail trade sales in Brazil each year in the month of December. Between March and April 2020, when measures to contain coronavirus infections were implemented in the South American country, the retail trade sales volume index plunged to 74 on a base index of 100.
