Based on a survey conducted between June 2020 and June 2021, wine consumption was more prevalent among female adults in Zimbabwe, as the country obtained a ratio of three. Kenya and South Africa followed, scoring 1.9 and 1.5, respectively, which indicates that females took more wine than males. Moreover, three countries namely Botswana, Ethiopia and Nigeria, maintained a gender parity in wine consumption. On the other hand, male adults were more likely to consume wine in Morocco, compared to females.

In the 12-month survey (from June 2020 to June 2021), respondents were asked the following question:
Have you consumed wine within the last four weeks?
A ratio of 1 represents parity.
A higher ratio indicates more female consumption.
