Asia produces the largest emissions from agriculture worldwide. In 2021, the equivalent of 3.97 billion metric tons of carbon dioxide (GtCO₂e) were produced on agricultural lands in Asia. This represented roughly 36 percent of global agriculture emissions. Africa and Latin America were the next largest emitters, with approximately 2.4 GtCO₂e produced on agricultural lands in both regions.
