This move came as a result of increasing pressure from fans and sponsor to replace the original Native American-based name. During a July 2021 survey in the United States, 47 percent of Millennial respondents approved of the franchise's decision to change its name following the current season, while this figure fell to 30 percent among Baby Boomers.
