The controversial "Pedophilia Law" came into force in Hungary in the summer of 2021, and among others it prohibits sharing content on gender reassignment and homosexuality to minors. The law linking pedophilia with homosexuality raised concerns across Europe, as it might lead to the discrimination of LGBTQ groups. According to a survey conducted in the summer of 2021, the majority of Hungarians believed that the law used pedophilia as an excuse to restrict LMBTQ rights.
