According to a survey conducted in 2020 in South Korea, 73.4 percent of respondents answered that their companies implemented the 52-hour workweek system. 83 percent of respondents working at large companies, with 50 to 299 employees, stated that their company implemented the maximum 52-hour workweek.
The maximum 52-hour workweek system was introduced in 2018 and was implemented gradually into the South Korean workplace, starting with public institutions and large companies with more than 300 employees. By January 2021, all companies with 50 to 299 workers were required to follow this policy.
