The Hindi-speaking market (HSM) in India accounted for the highest news viewership on television, that is 70 billion weekly viewing minutes, in 2020. The leading contributors to this market were the states of Maharashtra, Goa, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. On the other hand, the southern market, which made up for the remaining viewership, was led by states such as Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Karnataka. Overall, India's news viewership rose to 104 billion weekly viewing minutes in 2020.
