According to an August 2020 survey of the Indian urban population, Instagram Reels was the short-video mobile app feature that responders were more likely to use after the ban of TikTok in the country. Cheez, a short-video app with headquarters in Singapore ranked second, with 59 percent of respondents reporting they already used the app or they were likely to use it in the future. TikTok was officially banned in India at the end of June 2020, along with several other mobile apps developed in China.
