The dog ownership ratio among young adults aged 20 to 29 years in Japan amounted to almost 12 percent as revealed in a survey conducted in October 2023. While young adults represented the largest age group, only 8.2 percent of elderly people aged 70 to 79 years were taking care of a dog.
