Installs of selected video streaming apps in the U.S. 2021
In the first year after its launch in May 2020, HBO mobile app HBO Max registered 43 million installs in the United States. Mobile apps for Disney+ and Netflix followed with 40 million installs respectively in the examined period. HBO Max, which in June 2021 extended its services to cover 39 territories in Latin America, increased its subscriber numbers by 72 percent between 2020 and the beginning of 2021. Mobile apps of streaming services Disney+ and Netflix ranked second in the examined period, with 40 million installs each.
