Most of the assets managed for individuals by investment advisors registered at the U.S. Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) were attributable to high net worth clients. In 2023, high net worth individuals' assets accounted for more than 64 percent of the total individual assets managed by SEC-registered investment advisors. This is despite being a small share of the total individual clients of SEC-registered investment advisors.
