Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, 85 percent of surveyed artisans in Morocco reported having stopped work during the lockdown. Moreover, in the three months and six months following the period of lockdown, 35 percent and 24 percent of the craftsmen, respectively, reported work cessations. The effect of the pandemic on the arts and crafts industry is visible throughout the three COVID-19 stages here considered. Overall, close to 1.4 million people were employed in this sector in Morocco as of 2018.
