Self-sufficiency rate for eggs Germany 1995-2023
In 2023, eggs in Germany showed a self-sufficiency rate of almost 73 percent, based on preliminary figures, which means that additional imports were needed to cover domestic demand. The self-sufficiency rate represents a number which shows the percentage of necessary agricultural products produced domestically, i.e. which share of agricultural products necessary for the market can a country produce on its own. In case of shortage, which is a self-sufficiency rate under 100 percent, imports become necessary.
