According to a survey conducted in April 2021, around 36.4 percent of Italian workers had to stop working for at least two weeks in the previous 12 months due to the coronavirus pandemic. Reasons related to COVID-19 containment measures explained the largest part of this percentage. According to the data, almost 70 percent of people who had to stop working did not resume doing so before one month. Moreover, longer work interruptions were more common among women than among men.
