African fintech startups dealing with payments and remittances received most of the investment raised between 2015 and 2021. In this period, fintechs in Africa secured nearly 900 million U.S. dollars in funding. Of this total, some 543 million U.S. dollars went to companies working with payments and remittances, while 131 million U.S. dollars were secured by startups specialized in lending and financing.
