The measures taken by the Italian government to contain the COVID-19 pandemic forced many people to work from home. This radical change of habits brought both positive and negative consequences into people's professional life. According to a recent study, roughly half of the Italian remote workers experienced a loosening of relations with their colleagues and increased performance anxiety as of April 2021. Data suggest that young people felt extremely marginalized with respect to business dynamics inside the company, and suffered the most from performance anxiety. Older employees, on the other hand, felt the loosening of relations with colleagues more harshly than other age groups. Workers between 35 and 44 years of age were the least likely to experience the adverse consequences of WFH mentioned above.
