In 2019, the total retail sales of consumer goods in China's fourth and fifth-tier cities amounted to 11.1 trillion yuan, which grew by 11 percent compared to the previous year. In comparison, the total retail sales reached 12.53 trillion yuan in China's first and second-tier cities. The lower-tier cities in China showed strong growth in retail sales of consumer goods in recent years.
