Power plant sulfur dioxide (SO₂) emissions in the U.S. 2022-2023, by facility
The Labadie Power Station in Missouri was the U.S. power sector's worst sulfur dioxide (SO₂) polluter in 2023, with emissions of 44,266 tons. Nevertheless, SO₂ emissions at the coal-fired power station decreased by roughly 11 percent year-on-year. Labadie was also the second-biggest carbon dioxide emitter in the U.S. power sector in 2023, behind the James H. Miller Jr. Power Station in Alabama.
