From January to December 2023, a total of 114 cases of illegal abortion were reported in Colombia. This represents a slight increase in comparison to the previous year. A sudden decline took place at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. In total, from 2010 to 2023, there were a total of 4,802 cases reported.

Abortion in Colombia is legal under three circumstances: physical or mental health risks for the pregnant person, nonviability, or when the pregnancy resulted from rape or from an artificial insemination performed without consent.
