As of the first half of the fiscal year 2022/2023, the primary budget balance in Egypt was at 0.35 percent of the country's Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Furthermore, the budget balance was stable in 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 at 1.3 percent, indicating a surplus. During the period under review, only in 2016/2017 was the primary budget balance in deficit.
