During the period from February 21 to March 20, 2021, on average 856 girls aged 12-17 years visited the emergency department (ED) per week for suspected suicide attempts. In comparison, on average 196 boys of the same age, just one fourth of the number of girls, visited the ED per week for suspected suicide attempts.
