The announcement of exclusive content has a strong impact on U.S. Americans subscribing to streaming services, according to a survey from 2021. 88 percent of consumers who subscribed to Netflix in December 2020 or January 2021 stated the exclusive content was a reason to sign up. Out of these respondents, 59 percent said it was the main reason. 77 percent of HBO subscribers claimed the announcement of new Warner Bros. movies was a reason, and out of them, 48 percent said it was the main reason signing up to the VoD service.

* Netflix will release a brand-new movie every week in 2021, exclusively on the service. HBO Max will release every new Warner Brothers movie from 2021 at the same time they come out in theaters. Disney+ will release a number of first-run movies on the streaming service instead of in theaters, incl. Marvel, Pixar, and Disney Animation movies. Disney+ will also release new TV series based on Marvel, Star Wars, Disney Animation, and Pixar stories.
