Chile: level of agreement with the abortion law 2021, by type

Chilean respondents generally agreed with the legal status of abortion in the country as of June 2021. Around 72 percent of the people surveyed said they agreed with the current abortion law that allows the procedure when the pregnancy is nonviable, if it imposes a life risk or if it results from rape. Only 26 percent disagreed with this legal framework. When asked about the possibility of passing a new law that allows abortion until the 12th week no matter the cause, views were more divided, as 43 percent of respondents said they were in favor, and another 54 percent were against.
