In 2019, it was found that 89 percent of French victims of sexual violence as minors had been sexually assaulted (e.g., touched) and 22 percent had been raped.
In addition, the proportion of victims of sexual abuse who told someone about their abuse was relatively high. Indeed, it was found that nearly 70 percent of victims of child abuse told someone about being sexually assaulted. In half of the cases, the person in question was a parent or a friend.
