Italian Metropolitan cities by population growth 2022
Milan, Bologna, Rome, and Florence were the only three Italian metropolitan areas which recorded a population increase between 2021 and 2022. In fact, all the other largest municipalities registered a negative migration rate, most prominently in the south and on the islands, where the last six cities in the ranking are located. However, Naples is the third-largest Italian municipality, after Rome and Milan.
