In 2019, the general opinion of the Malaysian public towards equal treatment of migrant workers in Malaysia was that the migrant workers should not have any rights at work if their status was irregular, with 86 percent of respondents agreeing. This situation showed that discrimination against migrant workers was still high among Malaysians.
