When looking at estimates of the number of people reporting incest in France between 2009 and 2020, it appears that the number of reported victims increased from 2 million to 6.7 million during the period studied. It can be assumed that this increase is not necessarily explained by a greater occurrence of these crimes, but by a relatively freer speech of the victims, who are relatively less afraid to testify about the violence they suffered in their childhood.
