Prices in Nigeria are increasing due to steady inflation and food items are particularly impacted. Food items also have different prices across the states. In Jigawa State, one kilogram of yam tubers costed 573 Naira in August 2023 (around 0.46 U.S. dollars). One kilogram of onion bulbs reached 430 Naira, about 0.35 U.S. dollars, while one bottle of palm oil costed on average 1,322 Naira per liter, roughly 1.06 U.S. dollars.
