Total extra-EU steel scrap trade reached over 17.6 million metric tons in European markets in 2022. That same year, Netherlands was the largest exporter of steel scrap to markets outside 16 percent compared to 2021. By contrast, German exports recorded the steepest growth, export volume rise by almost four percent compared to 2021.
