According to PwC in 2020, the environmental, social, and corporate governance score for EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa) was 85 percent. The Americas had a score of 80% and Asia Pacific had a score of 46%.

The analysis compared the top 40 mining companies in the world against selected questions from the source’s "Building Public Trust framework" to understand the maturity of ESG reporting for these companies. Furthermore, the source focused on the five key areas of strategy, stakeholder engagement, climate, diversity and inclusion, and governance - board oversight. The percentages disclosed represent the average scores of companies in the respective regions. A higher percentage reflects a higher level of maturity of reporting in the respective key areas.
