Worldwide, about half of the women are not free to make their own decision regarding sexual and reproductive health and rights. The situation in Western and Central Africa is particularly concerning. According to a recent study, only six in ten women in West African countries had the power to say no to sex, while half of the women in this region could not make their own decisions regarding their health care. Sub-Saharan Africa is one of the world regions in which female sexual and reproductive health and rights are the least in hands of women.
