When asked for the reasons of not renting luxury goods in a 2020 study, 44 percent of luxury shoppers around the world stated that they would rather own the luxury product instead of renting it. 12 percent of the luxury consumers listed "not wanting to use something owned or used by someone else" and being "afraid of damaging the product" as their reasons for not renting luxury products.
