Young people's opinions on paternity leave duration in Italy 2020

In Italy, parental leave for fathers consists of seven days, which 80 percent of young Italian's consider to be too little, according to a 2021 survey on the issue. On the other hand, 18 percent of interviewees stated that the current parental leave is enough. As of 2016, Sweden offered 35 paid weeks to mothers and 10.9 paid weeks to fathers and is considered the country with the most family-friendly policies in Europe. Italy, instead, ranked 19th out of 31 nations. The analysis considered four aspects: paid leave available to mothers, paid leave reserved for fathers, childcare enrolment under the age of three, and childcare enrolment between age three and school age.
