Trusted professions in Australia 2021

Doctors were ranked as one of the top five most trusted professions by 61 percent of Australians in a July 2021 survey. Medical professions dominated the top three, while nurses and pharmacists were rated more trustworthy than police officers.

Pharmaceutical companies in Australia

According to a 2021 survey of the Australian community pharmacy sector, 89 percent of respondents indicated that their pharmacy used in-store sales channels. Home deliveries came in second, followed by phone apps. Neuren Pharmaceuticals Limited was the most prominent pharmaceutical company listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) in 2023, followed by AFT Pharmaceuticals Limited. Neuren Pharmaceuticals specializes in therapies for neurodevelopmental disorders that appear in childhood.

Important health professions and education level in the health industry

In a 2021 survey among Australians, 78 percent of the respondents ranked general practitioners as one of the top three most important health professions. More than half of respondents ranked general practitioners as the most important profession. In the same year, approximately 51 percent of the employees in Australia's health care and social assistance industry held a bachelor’s degree or higher. Registered nurses and aged and disabled caregivers were the top employing occupations in the industry that year.
