In November 2020, around 77.9 percent of female respondents in Japan stated that they did not wish to own a private-use communication robot at the moment after the prevalent transmission of COVID-19 in the country. The desirability among male respondents was slightly higher, with 76 percent not wishing for and 24 percent wishing for a social robot. The highest desirability was observed among respondents in their twenties.
