According to a survey conducted by Rakuten Insight in June 2021 in Japan, the majority of Japanese consumers did not change the frequency of their visits to physical stores to buy non-grocery items following the COVID-19 pandemic. While 64 percent of respondents did not notice a change in their shopping behavior, only four percent claimed to visit physical stores more frequently to buy non-groceries.
