Tanzania's government spent a total of 26.6 trillion Tanzania shillings (TZS), approximately 11.4 billion U.S. dollars, in 2020/2021, of which most was recurrent expenditure (wages and salaries, interest costs, and other recurrent expenditure). Some 9.3 trillion TZS (around four billion U.S. dollars) were dedicated to development projects.
