As of August 2024, the production volume of fan coil units for fans in Thailand amounted to around 932,000 units. This was followed by compressors, with nearly 870,000 million units. 

Thailand’s electrical appliance production

The manufacturing of electrical products in Thailand decreased by around two percent in the fourth quarter of 2023, compared to the previous quarter. The ongoing surge in energy costs contributed gravely to this. Some appliances with decreased production were refrigerators, microwave ovens, electric motors, and washing machines. Thailand’s manufacturing of electrical appliances is mostly aimed at exports instead of domestic use. Leading export destinations include China, Japan, and ASEAN markets.

Thailand’s international trade of electrical appliances

Fan coil units for air conditioning accounted for the highest production volume in May 2023. In that month alone, such products were exported the most among other electrical appliances, reaching over one million units. In comparison, the main electrical appliances imported to Thailand were radios, telephones, telegraphs, and television receivers. Thailand’s geographical location gives it an advantage as an exporter. In 2022, the United States was Thailand's leading export destination for electrical appliances.
