In financial year 2021, the NBFC wing of HDFC was the leading non-banking financial company (NBFC) in India in terms of total assets worth over 5.8 trillion Indian rupees. It was followed by Shriram Group with assets worth more than 1.5 trillion rupees each.
Non-banking financial companies in general offer a wide range of financial services. Particular companies are mostly focused on one or more core services ranging from loans to advances or the acquisition of shares, stock, and bonds. They are regulated by the Reserve Bank of India.
