Biotech facilities in Spain 2020, by region
In 2020, Catalonia was the autonomous community with the highest number of biotechnology-related facilities in Spain, with 21 biotech centers. By type, the region had three scientific, technological, or bio-incubator parks, 16 investigation centers, one cluster, and one industry association. Madrid followed, with 15 biotech-related facilities that year, most of which were investigation centers. These regions accounted for about 80 percent of the total turnover generated by the biotech industry as of 2020.
