Biotech enterprises in Spain 2020, by size
In 2020, the number of biotechnology companies in Spain amounted to 862. Out of the total, more than half, or 548 biotech enterprises, were Micro-SME with less than 10 employees, while 197 biotech companies were small and had between 10 and 49 employees. That year, 25 large biotechnology firms were operating in the European country with over 250 workers. As of 2020, the biotech industry represented about 1.1 percent of the Spanish GDP.
