China was by far the leading exporter of the materials needed to produce electric vehicle (EV) batteries as of 2020. China's exports of EV battery materials amounted to nearly 17 billion U.S. dollars that year, while South Korea, the second-largest exporter of these battery materials, exported a distant 4.9 billion U.S. dollars.
