Common reason for debt among consumers counseled on multiple-debt in Japan 2022
In 2022, low income and a decrease in income were cited as the reason for borrowing money by over 6.3 thousand consumers in Japan who received counseling on multiple debts by local governments. The impact of COVID-19 was named in around 700 cases. The term multiple debts refers to a situation in which a person has borrowed money from various lenders and has difficulty with debt repayment.
