Monthly online time per session index evolution in France 2020-2021
France went into lockdown on March 17, 2020, and most stores had already closed on March 14. The country’s lockdown has also been one of the strictest in Europe. Periodically, people were required to carry a form stating their reason for being outside their homes. As a result of the shutdown, the country experienced a general increase in online activities, especially in the time spent on online pages per session, illustrated by the index growth rate since January 2020. Setting the base index at 100 for January 2020 and 2021, the source indicates a strong growth of time spent per session on web pages in April and November 2020. With the lifting of the restrictions, the index value scored far lower in 2021.
